I did enjoy the game, you had some good Ideas going.

I'll repeat some of the gripes the others already mentioned.

@GoldenTrashcan Definetly has a point. Maybe you should have left out pixelArt and made it all in drawn assets. It would make it less jarring to look at the game.

The pong part doesn't really fit the theme. It would probably feel better to throw the ball at the dog instead of past it, like @SimpDuck suggested. Also, the Pong just was very slow. It was hard to guess where the ball would be going after you hit it, there was no decisionmaking involved, just hitting the ball to hope it'd go in. I wanted it to be over fast to get back to the story. At some point I just gave up and let the dog win.

I would suggest that maybe you should try to focus on improving your gameplay, since your art is already going into a good direction. If writing the story and doing the art was more interesting, than developing the gameplay, maybe you should focus on those more next time to polish them further and give gameplay less attention, or let someone else handle that. But since there is more than one dev involved here, maybe that already is the case.

This all seems very negative, but my general summary is, this is a good start, there are obviously some flaws you can still improve upon. If this was your first jam, i hope you keep going. This was a good start and I hope you keep up the pace to improve fast.

Hope this was helpful

Thanks for the feedback.

Did you know you can move the pong paddle forward and backward?  It makes the pong game much faster and very fun.  We have had a ton of feedback on the main submission page regarding the pong game being extremely fun and a great twist to the original.  The only negative is that you can hit the ball so hard it flies out of the boundaries and requires you to hit escape a few times to reset the ball and paddles.

We had a stretch goal to have the sprites art look like the cut scenes but we didn't have time.  We have full-time jobs and it was a stretch getting what we have here done.

yeah I get that. Time's tight and I did know about moving the paddle forward.

Thank you for the helpful feedback! This was indeed our first jam and we're very excited to get started on another.

By far the most beautiful game I have played this jam. Great art, story, everything. I maybe would suggest a different game to pong. It looks great, but when I played I just wanted to get the "game " finished to continue the story.  Perhaps could even tweak the pong screen to be you aiming  at pongo to catch, instead of trying to chuck the ball straight passed him. But besides that I do love this game.

I did find this mechanic, and don't get me wrong I do love this game. When playing it felt strange that I could move around and speed up the game, but poor Pongo was stuck to moving up and down. Maybe it isnt the case and I just got unlucky playing. I just understood it to simulate the player running around and trying to throw it pass Pongo kind of like you are battling against him. I fully understand I could misunderstand the whole scenario, and don't doubt the pong mechanic is fun in its own right.

This is a great game!

I like it quite a lot! The art is especially eye catching. The gameplay could use a bit more depth. Other than that, very nice game!

Thanks!

I like the pong part, but I don't understand how this fits the theme a whole lot. Also, the game would be so much better if it stuck to one art style. Other than that and some of the buggy parts, it's a cool game! But the music doesn't fit very well.

Thanks for the feedback! Regarding theme, we focused the game around the child and Pongo and them being stronger together.
